The cold weather has made its debut with a frozen blast….it got cold fast! The crisp air and decrease in humidity during the season change can leave your skin dry, dehydrated and lacking a healthy glow. Here are a few tips to keep your skin looking amazing.

1. Reassess your products.

When the weather changes so should your skin care regimen. You want to make sure your products are chosen based on your specific needs and skin type. For example you may want to choose a creamy body wash vs a gel body wash to keep your skin hydrated during the colder months. Or you may wish to use a more lightweight moisturizer.

2. Always wear Sunscreen

In the summer it is second nature to apply sunscreen daily because we are spending more time outside. As the weather changes the concern for sunburn and overexposure diminishes, but the risk doesn’t change. Overexposure to the sun can cause premature aging in the skin, hyper-pigmentation and skin cancer. Protect yourself!!! I recommend an SPF of 15 or higher.

3. Moisturize your skin daily.

To avoid dry skin it is best to hydrate your skin consistently. Moisturizer should be applied when you are fresh out of the shower to seal in the moisture your body has already absorbed. If you struggle with drier skin more so in the winter you will want to apply a creamy moisturizer and seal it with an oil or gel.

4. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate!

When dead skin isn’t removed, it just sits there causing the skin to feel rough, scaly and look as if it isn’t so pretty either. I recommend using and oils based scrub product weekly in the shower to remove dead skin and enjoy the benefits of hydrating oils. Try our Mango Madness Salt Scrub and Body Butter for amazing results.

5. Don’t try to be your own skin therapist.

Leave that job to a professional. 60% of skin care issues are due to using improper products. Visit your esthetic own at the beginning of the season to make sure your regimen is doing more benefit than harm.
